Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup

HOLDERS, Rhayader Town are through to the last four of this season’s Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup after a 1-0 win at Llandrindod Wells.

Rhydian Davies bagged the all important goal inside the first minute following good work by Gethin Jones. Llandrindod probably saw the greater share of possession after that but were unable to break down a stubborn Rhayader defence.

In the semi-final, Rhayader will travel to Knighton Town who ran out 5-0 winners at Builth wells where Johnny Samuel netted twice against his former club. Connor Bird also scored twice with an own goal completing the nap hand while Builth saw Aled Powell sent off.

The other semi-final sees Hay St Marys at home against Carno. Hay defeated Radnor Valley 3-0 last Tuesday night although Radnor gave a decent account of themselves. Steve Morgan put The Saints ahead and a brace from Matt James sealed the win.

Carno ended Brecon FC’s recent winning run with a 5-1 victory on Sunday. Andy Evans completed a hat-trick with Adam Williams and Ashley Owen getting the others.
