RHAYADER Town have announced a new management team following the departure of Dylan McPhee from The Weirglodd.
Jason Samuel is joining The Red Kites from Knighton Town as manager to work alongside Gareth Hughes.
Club secretary, Dai Davies said: "Jason has been held in high regard by Rhayader Town for some time and when the manager’s position became available, we did all we could to secure his services.
"He had a very successful season at Knighton being part of the management team which guided them into second spot in the Spar Mid Wales league first division last season and we hope he can repeat that with Rhayader. Jason will work with Gareth Hughes who will take a more influential management role as well as being an important member on the playing side."
Matthew Lewis has taken on the role of player/coach and he and Hughes bring a wealth of experience having played at high levels in the pyramid system in both Wales and England.
Rhayader have been busy recruiting following last season’s relegation from the Huws Gray Alliance and have made three new signings to date, all from local rivals, Llandrindod Wells.
Midfielder, Tom Bethell has returned to his home town club while also making the move are goalkeeper, Joe Prosser and highly rated midfielder, Ashley Jones.
Davies added: "We are looking to add to the squad in preparation for the new season."
Rhayader kick off their campaign at home against Machynlleth on Saturday before visiting last season’s second division Champions, Berriew on Wednesday night.
Mark Price has been named as manager of Rhayader Town Reserves and he will be assisted by last season’s Mid Wales (South) League and Cup double winning player-boss, Stuart Kinrade.
