One of Britain’s toughest amateur cycle races is set to return to the Welsh border this spring – with stages once again passing through Presteigne, Kington and surrounding communities.
The Marches 3-Day, which takes place from May 2 to 4, 2026, will feature four stages across three days, including two 60-mile road races in the Presteigne, Kington and Shobdon area, as well as a time trial from Presteigne to Shobdon.
North Herefordshire-based holiday park group Discover Parks has been announced as the event’s title sponsor. Its logo will appear on the yellow race leader’s jersey, awarded at the end of each day.
Discover Parks owner and Managing Director, Glenn Jones, said: “So many of our owners, guests and team are keen cyclists, so title sponsorship is a great fit for us.
“Not only will our logo be on the yellow jersey, but the time trial from Presteigne to Shobdon will finish outside our Pearl Lake Country Holiday Park.”
He added: “Time trials at this level are so exciting with that last sprint to the line, and we hope to generate quite a crowd to cheer on the cyclists!”
Supported by British Cycling and Beicio Cymru, the race crosses the Welsh border several times and concludes with a challenging hilltop finish near Offa’s Dyke.
Since its launch back in 2022, the event has attracted riders from across the UK. Previous winners Ben Chilton and Joe Brookes are now among the top semi-professional racers in France.
William Fotheringham, of organising club Halesowen A & CC, said: “When we founded this race, the idea was that it would be a unique challenge, a grass roots event that offers developing bike racers a proper stage race experience, and partnership with Discover Parks will enable us to take the race to the next level.”
