CONOR Bird helped himself to a hat-trick as Knighton Town continued their climb up the Spar Mid Wales League first division table with a 6-0 thumping of 10 man Llanidloes Town.
Having won at Llanidloes on the opening day of the term, the Robins completed a double over The Daffs who had Josh Evans sent off for picking up two yellow cards in the opening five minutes. Knighton admit the return of star striker, Bird from injury is like a new signing and he continued his rich vein of form in front of goal with Adam Farmer and brothers, Adie and Mark Jones the other marksmen.
Hay St Marys meanwhile saw their dip in form continue as they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Aberaeron. The Saints, who have now lost their last four league games, scored through Steve Morgan and Matt James while Gareth Severs bagged a hat-trick for Aberaeron with Gareth Evans netting their other goal.
And Llandrindod Wells have now gone eight league and cup games without a win after crashing to a 4-0 reversal at lowly Bow Street. Ifan Burrell (2), Tom Wyn Williams and Iolo Ap Dafydd scored for Street as new manager, Nigel Thomas failed to halt the Spa side’s slide.
Elsewhere Chris Proctor was the match winner for Waterloo Rovers with the only goal n a 1-0 win at basement side, Montgomery Town while Welshpool Town missed the opportunity to go top with a 2-0 defeat at Machynlleth.
Three teams from the Spar Mid Wales League are through to the fifth round of the FAW Trophy Competition. Carno recorded an impressive 6-0 victory over Castell Alun Colts, Jonathan Evans got the only goal as Penrhyncoch beat Penrhyndeudraeth 1-0 and Llanrhaeadr won 2-1 away at Brymbo with a brace from Chris Aitken.
