KNIGHTON Town extended their lead at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League to seven points with a 3-1 success at Hay St Marys on Saturday.

While title rivals, Penrhyncoch were frustrated with their home clash against Llanidloes Town abandoned, The Radnor Robins were ending Hay’s impressive 10 match winning run in all competitions.

Knighton dominated the opening exchanges and Sam Wiliams headed the league leaders in front from Adam Worton‘s corner. Dave Exall denied Ryan Davies at the the other end before Brendan Hackett equalised with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Knighton came out with all guns blazing for the second half and after Corin Jones went close before Connor Bird restored their lead from the penalty spot when Matt James hauled back Williams. Mark Jones, who was excellent for Knighton, sealed the win with a third from close range ten minutes from time.

Llandrindod Wells made it back to back wins trouncing Tywyn Bryncrug 6-1 on The Broadway. Robbie Nicholls and Ryan Sims each netted twice for the Spa men with Richie Powell and Ashley Jones also on target.

Knjighton Town certainly enjoyed a Happy Easter making it six points from a possible six over the holiday period with an impressive 4-0 victory at Llanrhaeadr on Monday.

Sam Williams scored twice with Connor Bird and Robbie Steele also on target as The Robins took a step closer to the Spar Mid Wales League first division title and promotion to the Huws Gray Alliance.

Hay St Marys returned to winning ways with Jake Atkinson heading a late winner in a 3-2 verdict over Carno. The Saints had led 2-0 thanks to Ryan Davies and matt James but Ioan Humphreys scored twice to level for Carno.
