RHAYADER Town maintained their early season promise in the Spar Mid-Wales League first division with a 3-1 home win against a depleted Hay St Marys on Friday night.

An early free-kick from Mark Davies put The Red Kites ahead and Mattie Lewis added a second. Brendan Hackett raised Hay hopes buy pulling one back but assistant manager, Gareth Hughes eased any Rhayader nerves by netting from the penalty spot.

Knighton Town have recovered from their poor start and are unbeaten in four following a 2-0 win at Montgomery Town on Friday night thanks to goals from Sam Williams and Harry Worton.

Radnor Valley looked on course for their first win since being promoted as they led 2-0 at home against Llanidloes Town but it ended 2-2.

Craig Pigott and Callum Matthews had struck for Radnor who made a bright start but Llanidloes clawed their way back and a Rhys Evans double earned them a point.

Llandrindod Wells also hit back to draw 3-3 at Aberaeron with Jeff Jones (2) and Robbie Nicholls netting to cancel out strikes from Mattie Davies, Gareth Evans and David Evans.
