TALGARTH Town saw their lead at the top of the Watson Financial Mid-Wales League (South) cut to four points following a 1-1 draw at Newcastle.
And the league leaders needed a last gasp leveller from Harry Sharman to salvage anything after trailing to an Ed Marston strike.
Both sides twice hit the woodwork in a competitive match but it was Marston who broke the deadlock on the hour. Sharman bundled in the equaliser with Newcastle’s Zac Thrivilas sent off for protesting as he claimed he was fouled in the build up.
Builth Wells Reserves maintained their challenge for honours with a 1-0 victory at Rhayader Town Reserves. It was the fourth time in the last five games that Kevin Claridge’s side have
Won 1-0, their latest success courtesy of a Gareth Earp own goal as defending Champions, Rhayader fell to a fourth straight league defeat.
Francis Barr, of Llanidloes Town Reserves was the star of the week-end as The Daffs romped to an 8-1 success at Llandrindod Wells Reserves. New signing, Barr bagged no fewer than six of the goals with Josh Matthews and Josh Jerman also on target as Llanidloes avenged a 4-0 home defeat on the opening week-end of the term. Ryan Sims gained Llandrindod’s consolation.
Presteigne Reserves maintained their challenge with a 4-2 win at St Harmon. Dale Tomkins’s side raced into a three goal lead thanks to Spencer Napolitano, Gareth Bull and Tom Crichton. Josh Rees reduced the deficit just before half-time and Ryan Addison struck for St Harmon in the second half only to see Owen Williams seal it with a fourth for Presteigne.
Knighton Town Reserves were also 4-2 winners at the week-end – The Radnor Robins coming from two down at Penybont. Daniel Paosila-Jones and Sam De Groot had put the home side in the driving seat but Knighton hit back through Harry Worton, Liam Jones, Liam Blythe and Jack Brindley.
