NEWBRIDGE were brought back down to earth in the Spar Mid Wales League second division following a high scoring 6-4 home defeat at the hands of bottom of the table Four Crosses.

Having recently recorded impressive wins against Bettws and a much fancied Berriew , The Villagers were looking to make it three in a row. Goals from Alfie Stonefield (2), Ollie Woods and Aeron Powell accounted for the Newbridge tally but they were unable to cope with visiting striker, Dale Lloyd who bagged a five goal haul for Crosses.

The only other Division Two game to escape the weather was another high scoring affair with Aberystwyth University beating league leaders Kerry 5-3 at home. Rian Devlin (2), Liam Hunton, Matthew Hunton and Nathan Lang scored for the students, who were 3-0 up after 20 minutes with Adam Pugh, Mark Hughes and Nick Mumby netting for Kerry.

In Division One, Llanidloes Town slipped further off the pace after falling to a 2-0 defeat at Llanrhaeadr with Tom Bailey and Iwan Matthews on target for Llanrhaeadr who are now just a point behind leaders, Penrhyncoch.

Montgomery Town remain deep in relegation trouble after a 3-1 defeat at home against Carno. Peter Rees and Andy Evans saw Carno ahead and an own goal sealed the points after Tom Evans reduced the deficit for Montgomery.

Tywyn Bryncrug handed themselves a lifeline with Tom Alan Davies (2) and Andy Papyrnick contributing to a 3-0 win against Aberaeron – only their second of the term.
