CAPTAIN’S Day took place on Saturday July 30 at Builth Wells Golf Club and thanks to the generosity of Captain Chris Offa, over 80 gentlemen golfers enjoyed his hospitality on a bright summer’s day.

Chris left no stone unturned to make sure everyone had a good day’s golf and were fed and watered throughout the day with on and off course refreshments and prizes by the dozen.

Other beneficiaries were the Wales and Midlands Air Ambulance Services as in excess of £500 was raised during the day.

The final event of the day was a show by David Haines , PGA professional trick shot golfer and kindly sponsored by Watson Financial, which left the members in awe at the skills and shots which they could only dream about.

Meanwhile, club President Gwynfor Evans and lady president Sue Parry welcomed over 100 members and guests to the presidents’ day on Sunday July 24th.

The morning session was allocated to the junior section at the club and after taking part in competitions for different age groups, every member was awarded a prize.

In the afternoon, 88 men and lady members teed-off on 18 separate tees in a stableford competition. The eventual winners of the club president’s cup were Dorian Davies and Michael Davies closely followed by Trevor Price and Don Harris. Other prize winners in the men’s section were Trevor Adams, Peter Riley, Tom Price and Paul Parry.

The lady president’s cup was won by lady captain Sherrie Edwards partnered by Hayley Price with Chris and Lisa Hughes as runners up. Other prize winners were Kim Allen, Jayne Wynn, Sheila Saer and Anne Lloyd.
