SUCCESSFULLY defending a title is never easy, but that is exactly what Joe Forkings, of Newbridge-on-Wye and Llandrindod Wells Golf Club, achieved at Celtic Manor recently.

The Welsh Mini Masters is an established event on the Welsh junior calendar. In 2015 Joe won the under nine category with a gross score of 39.

Joe went one better in 2016 with an excellent gross score of 38 to win the age10 and under category. Qualification came via a local qualifying round held at Llandrindod GC in July, followed by the area final at Aberystwyth GC in early October. Joe is already working on his game in preparation for a hat trick attempt in 2017.
