NEARLY 60 primary and secondary school pupils took part in Powys Schools Golf association’s annual competition in Builth Wells Golf Club.

The Best Gross Winner was Tom Bowen(6) of Caereinion HS with a gross of 75; Best Nett winner was Spencer Havard Pratt (24) –ofBuilth HS with a nett 61 and the runner up was Rhys Cadwallader - Jones (20) of Llandrindod HS with a nett of 62.

Powys Gemau Games medals were won by Spencer Havard Pratt who won gold; Rhys Cadwallader Jones – Silver and Jack Maloney (20) Christ College nett 62 - Bronze.

The 18 hole stableford winner was Max Edwards (28) –Builth HS with a fantastic 40 points, runner up was Aled Lewis (28) Llanidloes HS with 37 points and James Jones (28) Llanfyllin HS losing out on count back to claim third.

The nine hole stableford competition was won by Joseph Forkings (32), Newbridge on Wye PS with 25 points, runner up Isaac Jones (36) Penygloddfa PS with 21 points.

The girls 18 hole stableford competition was won by Grace Edwards (28) Builth HS with a fabulous 41 points and runner up Adelaide Francis (35) Christ College –St Nicholas PS with 33 points. The girls nine hole competition was won by Kathryn Edwards from Llanidloes HS with 15 points and runner up was Emily Chilton – Caereinion with 12 points.

The over all best nett/gross team trophy was awarded to Llanidloes High School with 451 points, runners up were Builth HS with 464 and third Christ College with 467 points.

The following boys that have been selected for the Welsh Schools Golf Championships to be held at the Pyle and Kenfig GC, Port Talbot, South Wales - Tom Bowen Caereinion HS; James Herdman Gwernyfed HS and Connor Jones Newtown HS. The event will be held on Sunday July 3 and Monday July 4.
