After two years of Covid-related absence, Brecon Athletic Club is delighted that they can once again run the annual Llanfrynach 3-4-5 road race series this May.

The popular races will be on Tuesday evenings, starting in Llanfrynach village at 7:15pm.

The series starts with the three-mile course on May 3, goes on to the four-mile race on May 17 and concludes with the five-mile event on June 7.

Each evening there is also a junior fun run (one and half miles) at 6.45pm.

A club spokesman said: “This is a friendly event that’s popular with local people for whom it may be the only race they do each year, as well as regular road runners. There is a challenge and a chance for friendly rivalry at all levels.”

While the atmosphere and courses will be the same as ever, runners this year will notice some changes due to ongoing covid precautions.

Although Covid restrictions are being removed the club felt it unsafe to take entries on the day of the race, which would require scores of people to crowd into the small village hall to register and pay.

Instead, competitors are asked to enter online in advance at the website (fabian4.co.uk) and collect their race numbers on the night from the car parking field.

The generous prize list will remain as before with prizes for each age group on each evening and then bigger prizes for the series winners, based on their accumulated time over the three races.
