Builth Wells 14 Maesteg Quins 7.

AFTER a narrow 8-7 defeat away to Ystalyfera two weeks ago, in a game which arguably should not have been played due to atrocious conditions, Builth returned to winning ways beating Maesteg Quins at home.

The hosts got off to a perfect start when man of the match Neil Jarman touched down within the opening five minutes. Seb Barrett missed the conversion and a penalty early on, Quins also missing a strike at goal.

With Builth piling on pressure in the first half, Barrett eventually slotted two penalties. Maesteg finally got off the mark just before half time, with a converted try, well into stoppage time. The score at the break 11-7.

The visitors failed to take advantage of superior territory and possession in the second half, continually coming up a huge defensive effort from the home side. The only points coming once again from the boot of Barrett.

Quins could have scored having intercepted a loose pass but scrambled defence and a great tackle by winger Tom Davies saving a certain equalising score. The final score was 14-7 allowing Builth to continue their climb up the table.

Builth travel to fifth place Seven Sisters on this Saturday.
