Builth Wells 7 Seven Sisters 14
DESPITE taking an early lead, Builth failed to secure the win as they played host to fifth place Seven Sisters last Saturday.
With Captain Ben Pugh moving to hooker from scrum half this week, Gethin Lewis moving to centre and Tom Davies switching to the wing, Builth started well. Rhys Davies scoring a well worked try 10 minutes in under the posts, converted by full back Dale Jones.
Customary ill-discipline from Builth allowed Seven Sisters back into the game with Ben Duggan and Tom Davies both being shown the yellow card just before half time but Builth took a narrow 7-6 lead into the break.
Unlike Australia later in the day, holding out with 13 men proved too difficult for the Bulls and Seven Sisters crossed the line on the hour for their only try of the game which went unconverted. They were later to stretch their lead, adding an extra penalty to make the final score 7-14.
Builth are undoubtedly showing promise, with good performances from youngsters having their first team season debuts. The Bulls travel to Llanishen on Saturday for the first round of the SSE SWALEC Plate competition in an another early 1.30pm kick-off.
