Talgarth Town FC has announced exciting plans ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Following the Breconshire club’s successful AGM on May 31, the club is pleased not only to have retained the membership of last season’s committee but to have recruited three new members.

Chairman Keith Parry said: “As a committee we consider ourselves to be a group of community minded volunteers working with and supporting a number of other voluntary groups in the town.

“However, without the support we receive from the community and the generous sponsorship from individuals and local businesses, in Bronllys as well as Talgarth, we would struggle to meet the costs associated with keeping football alive in the town.”

Mr Parry continued: “First and foremost we are pleased to confirm the appointment of Jack Dodds and Ben Sharman as the new management team for the coming season both of whom have been members of the club for many years.

“Under their leadership and having retained the majority of the playing squad from last season which combined with the prospect of a number of new signings we are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of a new season, both on and off the playing field.

“In addition to the experience of the senior players we are excited about retaining the talented youngsters that made the step up from the junior section of the club in the latter part of last season.”

On the playing side, preparation for pre-season is well advanced. Jack and Ben are privileged to have the support of Gareth Davies ex Hereford United, Cardiff, Reading and Crystal Palace player, pro ;icence holder and Football Association of Wales under 17s coach, who will be leading training sessions commencing on Tuesday, July 5 at 6.30pm, at King George V Playing Fields.

New players are always welcome at the club so please contact Jack Dodds on 07534692361 or come along and give it a try.

The schedule for pre-season friendlies is beginning to take shape with home games confirmed against Llandovery on Saturday, July 23, and Presteigne St Andrews on Thursday, July 28. A number of other matches are also soon set to be confirmed.

Off the field of play, Talgarth are busy with pitch preparation for next season and developing facilities at King George V Playing Fields for all to enjoy.

The club is pleased to have received a grant of £25k from the Football Association Of Wales Grassroots Facilities Investment Fund to assist with renovation of the sports pavilion.

Mr Parry added: “As a club we are ambitious to keep improving our standing, both on and off the field, working closely with other community groups and developing a football team to compete with the best in the area.

“At present there is uncertainty regarding the number of participating clubs in the Mid Wales League South next season so we have taken the decision to express an interest in stepping up to the newly formed Central Wales League.”
