The Talgarth Luncheon Club is set to be revived in 2023 after it was sadly shut during the COVID - 19 pandemic.

Val Harvey started the club over 38 years ago, and it became a much-beloved feature of Talgarth, gathering well-deserved plaudits for their weekly hot meals that allowed locals to socialise.

But now with the help of PAVO, the idea is set to be rejuvenated through the Tuesday Lunch Club which is now working towards providing a weekly lunch of soup and a roll, a pudding, a cup of tea, and a welcoming place to make friends and chat.

County Councillor William Powell (Welsh Lib Dem, Talgarth) said: “Over the decades, volunteers in Talgarth and District have stepped forward to meet an evident need, not only for a hot, nourishing meal, but also to provide support and companionship.

“I salute this new initiative of the Tuesday Lunch Club and wish all involved every success.

“At this time of extreme challenge for many people in our community, it is especially welcome.”

The group will be holding a coffee and cake morning on Saturday, January 7 to explain their aims and to listen to what users would like to see at the Tuesday Lunch Club (TLC).

The event will be publicised on Facebook, on posters around Talgarth, and in the wider community.

All age groups will be welcome and potential volunteers will have the opportunity to meet the organising committee.

It is planned for the lunch club to begin its operation fully a month later on February 7.
