A quad bike run in Mid Wales has raised more than £1,000 for Guide Dogs Cymru.
33 vehicles, some carrying passengers, left Aberedw Village on Sunday November 23 for a four-hour run, taking in the stunning scenery and local landmarks.
Organiser Nigel Gethin said: “We stopped off at the famous Llewellyn’s Cave, the hiding place of our Prince of Wales when he was being hunted by the English in 1282, and where he is said to have spent his final night. Then it was back on the quad bikes and on to the beautiful Llandeilo Hills, where we followed the main drag all the way to Glascwm. We made our way back over the beautiful Radnorshire Hills by a different route.
“After four hours, 33 miles and only two gates we were back in Aberedw, all safe and sound, sitting by the log burner in the Seven Stars pub for a lovely basket meal.”
Nigel is hoping to boost the total raised for Guide Dogs Cymru even further, inviting people to ring 07870 892004 if they wish to donate. He thanked all the quad riders and passengers who took part; Builth Rotary Club; Merthyr Salvage; Penrhalt Pet Crematorium, Llanidloes; the Seven Stars in Aberedw; Danycoed Farm for letting the vehicles park on their field; gamekeeper Aaron Brookshaw; and the secretary of the Llandeilo Hill, Maureen Lloyd, adding: “Without you two we would never see such lovely scenery.”
Guide Dogs Cymru provides life-changing mobility services for adults, children and young people with sight loss across Wales, helping them to maintain independence and freedom.
