Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed it was hit by a cyber incident earlier this month which disrupted some of its non-emergency systems.

The incident - confirmed by the force today - was identified on Monday, September 14.

The force said that specialist teams have been investigating the incident alongside cyber-security experts. Precautionary measures were put in place on force systems while work was carried out to restore services.

Online and email contact were unavailable for a period but have now been restored. The force said its 999 and 101 telephone services were not affected and its response to emergency incidents continued as normal.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has been notified.

Dyfed-Powys Police said its investigation had so far found no evidence that members of the public's personal data had been accessed or compromised. However, officers are continuing to investigate whether information relating to police staff may have been accessed.

The investigation is being managed by Tarian through its regional cyber-crime unit, while the force continues to monitor its systems.

The force said: “We understand the potential concern this may cause and want to reassure the public that we have and will continue to take all necessary steps to protect our information and maintain the security of our systems.

“We will provide further updates when we are in a position to do so.”
