A 25-year-old man has died following what police have described as an unexplained incident near the Royal Welsh Showground ahead of this year's Royal Welsh Show.

Dyfed-Powys Police said officers were called to a report of a medical emergency at Penmaenau Farm, Llanelwedd, at around 10:30pm on Saturday, July 18.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences and remain in police custody.

A police cordon remains in place while enquiries continue.

Temporary Chief Superintendent Steve Davies said: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the young man's family at this difficult time.

"I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"There is no evidence of any ongoing risk to the wider public in connection with this sad incident."
