Members of Women’s Institutes across the Powys Brecknock area gathered on Saturday for a special Wellbeing Day, hosted by the Aberhonndu Angels WI.
The event brought together a programme of inspirational talks, gentle movement sessions, and time for reflection – all designed to support mental, emotional, and physical health.
The day opened with a warm welcome at 9:30am before an engaging conversation with Gabrielle Treanor, who set the tone with thoughtful insights into mindfulness and the culminative gains of the 1% approach to wellness.
Later in the morning, participants joined Kallika for an introduction to chakras and gentle movement, encouraging balance and awareness, before breaking for a sociable lunch.
The afternoon continued with powerful personal stories and practical wellbeing sessions. Karen Davies shared her talk, “Being 60 and Bucking the Trend”, charting her journey of recovery and resilience following PTSD and her fundraising activities for Felindre cancer service. Her presentation resonated strongly with many in the audience.
This was followed by Maria Zervas, who led a somatic movement and yoga workshop, drawing on her expertise as a myofascial specialist to demonstrate how movement can help release tension and restore calm.
As the day drew to a close, participants were immersed in a deeply relaxing Sound Bath with Gillian Evans, a meditative experience that left members describing a sense of peace and renewal.
The event concluded with organisers and attendees alike reflecting on the value of coming together for a day dedicated to wellbeing.
Aberhonndu Angels WI President Fiona Morgan said:“It was wonderful to see so many members from across Brecknock joining us. The speakers and sessions were truly uplifting, and we hope everyone left feeling inspired, refreshed, and connected.”
The success of the Wellbeing Day highlighted the WI’s commitment not only to community and friendship, but also to supporting members’ health and happiness in today’s busy world.
