Welsh singer-songwriter Gareth Bonello, known as ‘The Gentle Good’ has recently released a brand new album inspired by Elan Valley.

Bonello’s new album named Elan, was written in an off-grid cottage during his year-long residency in the Cambrian Mountains as part of the Elan Links programme during 2021-2022.

The album is a psychedelic portrait of the Elan Valley in Powys, Wales and features songs in both English and Welsh.

The songs speak about the landscape, history and politics of the area, that was flooded to help provide Birmingham with water in the Victorian era.

A spokesperson for the Elan Valley organisation said: “Elan Valley has long been an inspiration for artists and we bring news of a recent album release that explores the landscape, history and politics of this beautiful area.

“Produced by musician Gareth Bonello during his tenure as an artist-in-residence as part of the Elan Links programme during 2021-2022, the album is a psychedelic portrait of the Elan Valley, featuring songs in both Welsh and English.

“Known for his intricate guitar style and enchanting melodies, Gareth, who records under the stage-name The Gentle Good, is one of the foremost artists working in Wales today.”
