THE councillor responsible for the controversial handover of domestic care contracts in Powys has apologised. Councillor Darren Mayor, Powys County Council's cabinet member for adult services, claimed the transition from some 20 companies to four providers had largely achieved continuity of care but admitted: "The second phase transfer, especially in the north of the county, the providers have experienced considerable challenges which have impacted on some services users. "This is unacceptable, and we are very sorry at the distress and anxiety that has been caused to service users and their families."
