A BIG thanks to the Aberystwyth group of Blood Bikes Wales for speaking at the March meeting of Howey Women’s Institute.

The group do brilliant work supporting the NHS by transporting not only emergency blood supplies but medications, lab samples etc out of hours and at weekends. The Aberystwyth group covers one of the biggest areas in Wales, from Tywyn in the North, Welshpool in the East, all the way down to Carmarthen in the South. Blood Bikes Wales is run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations from the public and businesses.

It’s fair to say that the bike was the star of the show on the night! WI members were keen to have a go (see picture above). A big thanks also to all who attended the meeting; the proceeds from the raffle made a healthy donation to the Aberystwyth group.
