Brecon Beacons Tourism celebrates its 10th Year of trading by launching the first-ever Brecon Beacons Tourism Awards.

Laura Thomas, Brecon Beacons Tourism executive director, said: “We are delighted that Brecon Beacons Tourism is able to launch the first-ever Brecon Beacons Tourism Awards in our 10th Year of trading.

"We hope the awards will showcase the quality of what we have to offer here in the Brecon Beacons and surrounding area. The awards will be an opportunity for us all to celebrate the tourism industry and to highlight the outstanding quality of our vibrant tourism businesses. We hope businesses no matter size or type will get on board and support both the awards and the dinner, seeing it as an opportunity to pay tribute to those who are committed and passionate about their business, the tourism industry and the Brecon Beacons.”

There are 12 awards in total, which any tourism business operating in and around the Brecon Beacons may apply for. The list of awards can be found here.

BBT have welcomed back Punch Maughan, the founding executive director, to help coordinate and run the awards for Brecon Beacons Tourism in 2016.

The awards are being supported by sponsors for the different award categories from the private and public sector – sponsors so far include Pear Communications, Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottages, Group Accommodation, Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, Powys County Council, The Brecon and Radnor Express and Neath Port Talbot College. Other local businesses are lending their support in different ways.

The short-listed businesses and winners will be unveiled at the Awards Gala Dinner to be held at the The Manor Hotel, Crickhowell on November 10.

Tori James, the first Welsh woman to climb Everest and Visit Wales Year of Adventure Ambassador, will be the guest speaker on the awards dinner and joining the audience for the evening.

Tickets for the dinner will be on sale later this year with the event open to anyone.

Businesses can download the application forms from the awards page on the Brecon Beacons Tourism’s website and have until July 1st to submit their applications.
