BRECON boxing coach Andy Griffiths says he will ignore a fine and a ban handed to him by the sport' governing body in a row over financial irregularities.
The International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) has banned Mr Griffiths from the sport for three months and told him to pay more than £2,000 in fines and costs after finding he had brought the sport into 'disrepute'. He had highlighted concerns at how national associations must bring large amounts of cash to international tournaments.
The former boxer turned coach and administrator said: "I won't pay it."
Mr Griffiths, who started Brecon's successful amateur boxing club, claims he had been acting as a 'whistleblower' when he contacted the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association (WABA) as well as Sport Wales chiefs, an MP and Welsh Government officials.
Mr Griffiths, who until his suspension was a WABA councillor, had previously raised concerns about the body's governance which led to a damning audit report.
