A popular and respected Brecon-based chiropodist is reassuring his customers that he does not plan to leave his job.

G C Blackledge (M.Inst.Ch.P, HCPC UK reg) has reportedly “with considered reluctance” turned down the opportunity to become the new Director of Wales for the well renowned and respected Institute of Chiropodists & Podiatrists.

He said he was made aware of a rumour that he had taken a job offer with the institute.

Mr Blackledge, who has run his practice known as the ‘Brecon & Chiropody Clinic’ for almost 30 years said: “I was extremely proud and indeed humbled to have been asked and approached to become the new Director of Wales for the institute.

“Indeed, it was especially humbling to realise that at their latest AGM meeting my name had been put forward and passed by the committee.

“However, after deliberation and much soul-searching, despite this great honour, I have with some reluctance declined the position. I instead wish to ensure my patients, who so rely on my treatments and help, that I will be continuing for the foreseeable future to continue my practice.”

Mr Blackledge says that he has no intention of stepping back and remains committed to caring for his patients.

“After some almost 30 years in providing the Brecknock & Radnoshire residents with chiripodial and podiatric care, I have built valued relationships with so many wonderful people developing friendships with several generations,” he said.

“As they have supported me, I in turn will continue to provide the very best care and service I have done and have no intention of letting them down. How could I?

“Simply put, I am going nowhere and although proud of being asked to take this most prestigious position, I nevertheless could never let my patients down, whether past or present.”
