Four Brecon fundraisers visiting Nepal say they have been left inspired after seeing first-hand the impact of money raised for charities.
Ann Mathias, Fiona Williams and Rotarians Hayley Ridge Evans and Michael Evans are currently in Pokhara, where they are visiting organisations they have supported over the past two years.
The group has spent two days at Kidasha, a Nepalese charity working with street-connected and at-risk children, learning how donations are used to support education, healthcare and long-term opportunities.
Ann Mathias said: “We are completely amazed and humbled by what we’ve seen. Kidasha isn’t just helping children survive - it’s empowering them with education, healthcare and real opportunities for the future. Seeing how carefully donations are used has made every bit of fundraising worthwhile.”
Kidasha focuses on long-term, sustainable solutions, helping children move away from life on the streets through education, family reintegration, vocational training and community support. The charity works closely with local communities and prioritises reaching children and families who are often excluded from mainstream services.
Its stated aim is to ensure children growing up in urban Nepal have safe and positive futures, with programmes designed to build resilience, raise aspirations and create lasting opportunities rather than short-term fixes.
Fiona Williams added: “The dedication and compassion of the Kidasha team is incredible. They are transforming lives in a truly sustainable way, and we are so proud to be involved with a charity that puts dignity and empowerment at the heart of everything it does.”
Kidasha says transparency and value for money are central to its approach, with donors able to see clearly how funds are used.
The Brecon group thanked residents at home for what they described as their “overwhelming generosity and encouragement.”
“None of this would have been possible without the amazing support from our local community,” they said.
