Members of the Builth Wells Branch of the Royal Naval Association gathered at Builth Wells Golf Club on Saturday, January 24, to celebrate Burns Night with a traditional Scottish feast.
Guests were welcomed with a warming tot of rum before being serenaded by Doe Herbert, whose evocative Scottish ballads set the tone for the evening. The ceremony continued with Shipmate Lee Houlsby reading the Selkirk Grace, followed by the parade of the haggis. Nino delivered the address to the haggis, which was then served by Nial, accompanied by “tatties and neeps” and a wee dram of whiskey.
After the meal, Herbie and Doe entertained the “lads” and “lasses,” and a raffle raised £160 for the branch and its chosen charity.
Organisers thanked Lauran, her assistant Courtney, and the catering team for their support, and wished Lauran well in her new home.
