Brecon High School has entered its third day of lockdown following an online security threat, with some parents refusing to send their children to school.

Students are able to come to school at start time, and finish at the end of the day, but once in the school for the school day, they must follow lockdown measures.

Dyfed-Powys Police said: “School is open with lessons continuing as usual. External doors are locked as a precautionary measure while enquiries continue. Parents have been notified of all arrangements via the app.”

An online threat was made to the school, which went into lockdown following a report made to the police at 11:38am on Monday. At the time, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Officers are currently working with the school following a threat that has been made online.

“As a precaution and to prioritise everyone’s safety, the school implemented a lockdown of its perimeter, which meant no one could enter or leave the school site this afternoon.”

Headteacher Rob Edwards said at the time that no one was currently able to enter or leave the school site following advice from Dyfed-Powys Police.
