All pupils and staff were delighted to have a recent visit from a young lamb last week, who made its way into the Reception class!
Mrs Mandy arranged the visit which turned out to be a real learning experience for Reception pupils, with many questions asked and answered about life on the farm.
Elsewhere at Hay-on-Wye Primary School, Year One caught the bus to Talgarth and had a glorious time when they visited Talgarth Mill. Pupils learnt about how the mill works and even made their own delicious bread rolls.

Also this spring term, congratulations are in order for rugby players Daisy and Emily as their Red Kites under 12 team won the cup semifinal at Merthyr RFC. They will now go on to play in the final in Cardiff at Arms Park on Sunday, 10 May.

The school’s Sports Ambassadors received further training from Powys Sport and were excited to take delivery of a brand‑new athletics kit. They wasted no time putting their training into action, delivering a jam‑packed and engaging session to Year 5.
The Ambassadors have also been busy during lunchtime, offering these activities to all children across the school, giving everyone the opportunity to come along and have a go. They will be running these sessions one lunchtime each week, helping to promote fun, engagement and the building of friendships during lunch breaks. This is another way in which pupil wellbeing is supported in the school and it has been brilliant to see children of all ages engaging and getting stuck in! Could this be the beginning of Fitness Fridays at Hay School?
The school are holding some ‘open morning’ sessions to promote the lovely school to new and prospective parents.
“Feel free to tell any friends or people you know who may be interested in joining us and starting their children’s learning journey at Hay,” said Headteacher Mr Richard Morris.
