Llanelwedd Church in Wales Primary School has launched a new baby and parent group.

The initiative got off to a strong start thanks to the efforts of the whole school community, with staff and volunteers working together to transform the space into a warm and inviting setting for babies, toddlers and their grown-ups.

More than 20 babies and toddlers attended the opening session, accompanied by parents, grandparents and childminders. While the children explored a range of play areas and made new friends, adults were able to relax, socialise and enjoy tea and biscuits.

Amy Davies, who leads the school’s 3+ provision, Little Learners, was also present to meet families. She highlighted the close link between the new group and Little Learners, saying it would help ensure a smooth transition for children as they progress through the early years of their education.

Acting headteacher Satu Haikala said she was delighted with the turnout and confirmed the group will now run weekly during term time.

“It was lovely to see such a good turnout at our new baby group,” she said. “This group is about building a foundation for our children and a support network for their families.”

The group will take place every Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 11am, with a £2 entry charge.
