Brecon Mountain Rescue Team helped lead a successful search for a missing person near Pen y Fan on Monday, 21 July.
Assisted by Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, the person had become separated from his family, and finding him using his phone location proved to be difficult for the team. The person was found safe and well and was assisted off the hill.
Elsewhere in the area, on Thursday, 17 July, Brecon Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team on Fan Foel with the rescue of a lone walker who had suffered an ankle injury.
Once the casualty’s location was confirmed using ‘phone find’, the two teams were deployed; once on scene, the casualty was rewarmed and given pain relief before being evacuated in the team’s Gator all-terrain vehicle.
The injured individual was then taken to hospital by the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust.
On Tuesday, 29 July, the team were called to the Nant y Moch reservoir area. A lady had suffered an ankle injury.
Due to the remote location of the incident, communications were a challenge, but they managed to locate her. The team were assisted by Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team who provided valuable support.
The teams were able to treat her with pain relief and evacuate her to an waiting ambulance where she was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said: “We would like to wish all the casualties a speedy recovery, and encourage you all to try and make a note of where you are parked when you set off, and as ever advise you to be adventure smart and plan before you go.”
