Brecon Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Rosie Jones and Rhys Gillard as its Community Youth Representatives. Rhys, aged 14, is returning to the role after a previous term, and Rosie, also aged 14, is newly appointed.

The roles were set up by Brecon Town Council to help ensure that the views, concerns and ideas of young people in Brecon are better represented and considered in local decision-making. As Youth Representatives, Rosie and Rhys will act as a voice for young people in the community and help strengthen engagement between local youth and the Town Council.

As part of their roles, they will:

  • Represent the interests and perspectives of young people in Brecon.
  • Help communicate local issues and ideas raised by youth.
  • Attend Town Council and project meetings.
  • Contribute to discussions on matters affecting the community.

The Mayor of Brecon, Councillor Marie Matthews, said: "We are delighted to welcome Rhys and Rosie as our Community Youth Representatives. Their involvement reflects the Council’s commitment to encouraging young people to take an active interest in their community and local democracy. We look forward to hearing their perspectives and working together to make a positive difference in Brecon."

Brecon Town Council looks forward to working with Rhys and Rosie and supporting them in their roles.
