CAMPAIGNERS fighting plans to relocate a stroke unit are due to hand in a petition to the Welsh Assembly.
Organisers say more than 2,000 signatures have already been collected, opposing the relocation of the stroke unit from Bronllys Hospital to the War Memorial Hospital in Brecon.
It also calls for Bronllys Hospital to be at the centre of Powys teaching Health Board's provision for adult and older people's health services in south east Powys for the next 50 years.
The petition will be presented to the Assembly's petition committee, at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, on Tuesday, December 4.
Powys teaching Health Board's consultation, which has been criticised by some campaigners, on the relocation of the stroke unit is due to close on Friday, November 30.
The board says relocating the consultant led stroke rehabilitation unit will improve patient care.
