Families in Brecon have a chance to enjoy a playful and unpredictable hour of fun this February half-term.
Theatr Brycheiniog will host Out of the Box, a family-friendly circus comedy show, on Friday, February 20 at 2pm.
The show stars Newport performer Darryl Carrington, who has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe and now brings his mix of clowning, comedy, and skillful tricks to local audiences. With no dialogue, Carrington relies on non-verbal humour and inventive use of ordinary objects to keep the audience guessing - and laughing - throughout the performance.
Each moment on stage is shaped by the audience’s reactions. Children and adults alike may find themselves part of the action as Carrington opens his “box” to reveal new tricks, mini acts, and surprises. Far from ridiculing participants, his style ensures everyone leaves feeling like a star.
The show is aimed at children aged four and over but promises something for all generations, blending slapstick, clever illusions, and joyful chaos. A toothbrush, of all things, becomes a highlight in the finale, illustrating how Carrington turns the everyday into something extraordinary.
Tickets for Out of the Box are available by contacting the Theatre Brycheiniog Box Office on 01874 611622 or alternatively can be purchased via the theatre website online at brycheiniog.co.uk
For families looking to make a day of it, the theatre café, Theatr B!, will be open before and after the show. From Tuesday to Saturday, the café serves snacks, small plates, and drinks from 9am to 5pm, and before evening shows. On Sundays and Mondays it is open 10am to 3pm with hot and cold drinks, cakes, and savoury snacks while the kitchen is closed.
You can explore the Theatr Brycheiniog website for more details on the theatre café and to view sample menus.
