Builth Bike Bash, an annual cycling festival, will take place on the Groe in Builth Wells on Sunday, September 10.

Participants are planning to ride the distance of the perimeter of Wales, 1050 miles.

Every year the organisers set a challenge distance, in previous years, for example; it has been the distance of the Tour de France and the combined distance of the Men’s and Women’s Tours of Britain.

Anyone with a push bike, scooter, wheelchair or pushchair can take part, it doesn’t cost anything, but you will need to register on the day and collect a number board to attach to your bike.

There will be a ½ mile course set up 11am until 12pm which is for the younger and less confident riders, and at 12pm the 1 mile course will be opened for everyone to ride.

The laps will all be counted. Organiser Bonna Williams said: “We expect to ride around Wales at least once… but it would be fantastic to manage it twice”

To continue the Welsh theme, this year every participant will receive a sports bottle in red, white and green.

The event runs 11am until 4pm, and you can come for a couple of laps or bring a picnic and stay all day.

Everyone will need to wear a helmet whilst participating, and don’t forget to bring your own bike/scooter etc.

There will be hot and cold refreshments available all day, and raffle tickets will be on sale.
