On Saturday, July 29 Brecon town centre was filled with music during the first of this year’s Busking in Brecon events organised by Brecon Town Council.

Performances were diverse ranging from spoken word poetry, guitar music to the haunting melodies of a bagpiper.

The event, which took place at the Monument, provided much entertainment to passers-by, visitors and those choosing to enjoy an afternoon out, with a drink and something to eat.

Not even a downpour dampened spirits.

These events have been so well received that busking slots all filled up in a matter of weeks when they were announced in early July.

"The afternoon has been a great success to hear music filling the streets and seeing people enjoying the atmosphere," said Councillor Michaela Davies, Town Mayor.

"I am delighted by all the different musicians and artists and how professional and friendly they have all been.

"I am very much looking forward to the next two sessions."

The next two Busking in Brecon events are on August, 19 and August, 26, both running from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Monument.
