Residents are being urged to share their experiences of bus travel between Brecon and Cardiff as part of a campaign aimed at improving connections to the Welsh capital.
Brecon's Labour councillors, Liz Rijnenberg, Chris Walsh, Matthew Dorrance and David Meredith, have launched an online survey to gather views on journeys between Brecon, Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff.
The campaign follows concerns from residents about long journey times, poor connections and difficulties completing journeys between Brecon and Cardiff.
Passengers currently have to change services, usually in Merthyr Tydfil, or travel to Abergavenny and continue by train to Cardiff. This can lead to delays and long waiting times.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance said: “Residents across Brecon and the surrounding communities are telling me loud and clear that the current bus service to Cardiff simply isn’t working as it should.
“People are facing missed connections, lengthy waits, and journeys that are far longer and more difficult than they need to be. For many, this affects access to work, education, healthcare and essential services.
“We need a transport system that works for rural communities — one that is reliable, joined‑up and puts passengers first.”
The survey asks people about the reliability of services, connection issues with the X4 and onward journeys, waiting times, missed connections and barriers to travelling to Cardiff and beyond.
The results will be used in discussions with Transport for Wales, bus operators and the Welsh Government about possible improvements to services.
Cllr Dorrance added: “This is about making sure the voices of local people are heard. The more evidence we have, the stronger the case we can make for change.
“I would encourage anyone who uses — or wants to use — these bus services to take a few minutes to complete the survey.”
Residents can take part online or request a paper copy by contacting Cllr Dorrance.
