The Castle of Brecon Hotel has been recognised in Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards following its £3 million transformation.

The historic hotel, which reopened last year after a major refurbishment, received the accolade based on guest reviews and ratings posted on the travel platform over a 12-month period.

Unlike traditional awards judged by a panel, Tripadvisor’s awards are based on the experiences shared by real travellers.

The Castle of Brecon was ranked as “very good” following 107 reviews from guests since its reopening.

Adam Charity, managing director of hotel owners The Coaching Inn Group, said the award recognised the work which had been done to ensure that the iconic property goes on serving both the local community and visiting guests for many years to come.

The Coaching Inn Group, which owns 43 hotels and historic inns across the UK, is also the current holder of Which? Best Large Hotel Chain of the Year.

Mr Charity added: “We regard them very much as part of the country’s rich heritage, which it is our duty to look after to the best of our ability during our watch.”
