A Rhayader resident has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by walking 10,000 steps a day for a month.

Throughout March, Cheryl Jones walked the impressive distance each day in aid of Cancer Research UK, raising a total of £600 for the charity.

“When the challenge was advertised by Cancer Research UK I decided to take part,” said Cheryl.

“As a cancer survivor I was fortunate to be well enough to be able to accept this challenge.

“I am very grateful to everyone who sponsored me and to be able to make a donation of £600 to the charity. Everybody knows someone who has or has had cancer and while research is making a huge difference, still more needs to be done.”
