Radnorshire police have been carrying out targeted speed checks in Rhayader following complaints from residents and local councillors about drivers exceeding the 20mph limit.
The Neighbourhood Policing and Patrol Team (NPPT) will soon be joined by Dyfed-Powys Roads Policing Units to help enforce the restrictions, after several motorists were found driving well above the limit.
Dyfed-Powys Police have reminded drivers that speeding is illegal and carries a minimum penalty of a £100 fine and three points on your licence. Drivers accumulating 12 or more points within three years risk disqualification, while newly qualified drivers can lose their licence automatically if they receive six points within the first two years after passing their test.
