Members of Côr Meibion Talgarth Male Choir have presented a donation to help support good causes following a festive fundraising effort.
Just before Christmas, the choir carried out its annual fundraising event in and around the Hay-on-Wye area, visiting venues including Cartref Care Home, Spirit of Clyro and several local hostelries. They also dropped in on a social event at Llanigon Village Hall, where stand-in conductor Graeme Kerr invited the audience to join in singing The Twelve Days of Christmas.
After the busy evening of performances, the choir raised a total of £403, which was split between Hay Dial-a-Ride and prostate cancer causes.
At the choir’s rehearsal last Monday, chairman Dermont Doyne presented a cheque for £201.50 for prostate cancer to the family of Mark “Tiny” Harding.
As Tiny was unable to attend, the cheque was accepted on his behalf by family members Kyle, Sadie, Sean and Debbie.
Tiny, a keen supporter of Liverpool F.C., was honoured by the choir with a rendition of the club’s anthem, You'll Never Walk Alone. The performance was recorded by Kyle and later shared on Facebook, where it received numerous views.
