Members of the Powys Brecknock Federation of Women’s Institutes came together on Tuesday, June 4, to take part in the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) Annual General Meeting – held virtually this year via Zoom.

The federation hosted a local "Watch Party" at Henderson Hall in Talybont-on-Usk, where members gathered to view the meeting on a large screen, vote online when required, and enjoy each other’s company over tea, coffee, and cake.

Following the formal business, guest speaker and renowned potter Emma Bridgewater shared the story behind her pottery business and spoke about designing a commemorative cup to mark the WI’s 110th anniversary.

She was followed by Angel Strawbridge, star of the popular Channel 4 series Escape to the Château, who captivated the audience with the inspiring tale of her life journey.

Looking ahead, the federation’s next big event is a Cream Tea at Llangorse Village Hall on Wednesday, July 16, with tickets priced at £12. The event is open to the public and will include a special raffle.
