Campaigners trying to secure the future of a former Crickhowell pub - and stop it being turned into a supermarket - say they are on the verge of giving the town "the best Christmas ever".
In just over a week, £323,000 has been invested in the new company which is trying to buy The Corn Exchange - just short of the minimum £400,000 it needs to secure the building.
Peter Roberts, of Corn Exchange Crickhowell Ltd, said "With Christmas almost upon us, it would be great for all involved in this project to go into the festive break knowing that the target has been achieved and thus the future of the Corn Exchange is securely in our hands. What a great Christmas present that would be for everyone."
Anyone who wants to invest can do so via a special crowdfunding website, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The web address is www.seedrs.com/corn-exchange-crickhowell1 If anyone needs any help with the online investment process, they should email [email protected]
