JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED: Crickhowell Rotary Club has coughed up a new medical couch for the town’s War Memorial Health Centre, the first of three they have pledged to buy this year.

The club has committed to help address the need to improve services to met the changing needs of an increasingly elderly and frail population in the area.

Rotarians presented the first bed to doctors Douglas Paron, Cathy Stoker and Paul Barnes, this month and are working to raising enough money to buy two more as soon as possible.

President Hywel Bevan said: "Equipping each consulting room with an examination couch will greatly improve patient facilities and be of considerable assistance to medical practitioners in diagnosing and administering treatment."
