POWYS residents who have used or have experience of the council’s home care service in the past are being asked to tell the county council what they think about the provision.
Home care service have faced a number of challenges in the past two years following changes to those providing domiciliary care. During a review of the service and the impact the changes had on some service users, the council pledged to carry out an independent review and commissioned the Institute of Public Care (IPC) to carry out the work.
However, despite the early challenges the service faced, the councils says during 2015 home care services in Powys have seen significant improvements in the way domiciliary care and support is delivered. It says there has also been improved continuity of carers visiting service users, and an overall stability in the service.
A number of face to face/telephone meetings and conversations has already been undertaken by IPC with service users, families, carers and advocacies to understand what services people would like, what could be improved and what didn’t work well in the past.
To help IPC get the views of the wider general public, an online survey will start on January 18 and run until 5pm on February 8. The information gathered from the online survey will support the conversations and meetings that have already taken place.
