Students all over Powys and beyond have received their GCSE results today and have been congratulated by Chair of Powys County Council, Councillor William Powell.
Commenting on GCSE results day, Powys County Council Chair, County Councillor William Powell said: “I would like to congratulate each and every one of our students in Powys, both those who collected their AS, A & T levels last week and the much larger number who collected their GCSEs today.
"As a former teacher of almost two decades, a parent and as a Primary and Secondary School Governor, I have experienced Results Day from a variety of angles over the years, decades after receiving my own results.
"We must congratulate our youngsters on their achievements and the fruit of much hard work - but also acknowledge the contributions of dedicated teachers and supportive parents across the County.
"Young people should be proud of their achievements, but also not defined by them, especially if they have fallen short of expectations - their own or others'.
"We should also recall that this is the 'Lockdown generation' whose education was impacted fundamentally by Covid-19 and what ensued. That makes their attainments all the more remarkable - and I salute them for their efforts."
