THE wife of a pensioner who died following a two car collision has also died, it has been confirmed.

Mary Marshall, who was 73, had been taken to hospital following the Saturday, July 20 crash that claimed the life of her husband David Marshal, 78.

The couple lived in Crickhowell and been travelling on the A40 between Raglan and Abergavenny when the collision occurred at around 9.30pm.

Mr Marshall, who died at the scene, had been driving a silver Ford KA, in which has wife was a passenger. She sustained serious injuries.

Gwent Police confirmed on Thursday, July 25, that Mrs Marshal had died.

Their car was involved in a collision with a VW Golf, which was travelling in the same direction.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, in particular for the driver of a Ford Transit van or similar, which was believed to be travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred, to contact them on 101 and quote log number 608 20/7/13.
