The village of Dolau marked the 100th birthday of resident Molly Patient recently with a party at the Dolau Community Hall.

Molly and her husband Larry moved to Dolau on their retirement 40 years ago. Larry became the first caretaker of the hall, and the couple became active members of village life.

County Councillor Deborah Edwards opened the event, while Stephen Vipond gave an overview of Molly’s life, noting she continues to take part in village activities, including the Meet Your Neighbour group. Several members of her family travelled to attend the celebration.

A bring-and-share tea was followed by a champagne toast. Molly, who received a card from King Charles for her birthday, cut her cake and thanked everyone for putting on the village party and making the day so special.

The Dolau Mixtures choir provided music, performing some of Molly’s favourite songs and leading a sing-along of wartime tunes from her youth.
