Following a string of sold-out performances, one of the UK’s most sought-after festive experiences, Christmas By Candlelight, is returning to Wales this December, with Brecon Cathedral among the venues selected.

The concert series, which blends West End vocalists, live band performances and candlelit settings, will take place across two locations. Cardiff’s Llandaff Cathedral and Brecon Cathedral will host a total of 10 shows.

Framed by hundreds of flickering candles, the events have built a reputation as a feel-good festive night out, featuring singalongs, dancing and a line-up of seasonal favourites. Organisers say the shows have sold out across the UK since 2023.

Ben Purkiss, who starred in the West End production of Bat Out of Hell, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be returning to Wales this Christmas and bringing a little West End magic with us.

“These shows are such a joy to perform, and the energy from the audience is unlike anything else. Year after year, the Christmas tour continues to sell out, and when you see the reaction from the crowd, it’s easy to understand why.

“It’s become a festive tradition for so many people, ourselves included, and honestly, I think we enjoy it just as much as the audience does!”

Simon Gordon, Director at Concerts By Candlelight said: “What started as a small idea has grown far beyond anything we ever imagined, and we never take that support for granted. We’re so grateful to everyone who returns each Christmas, brings family and friends along, and helps create such a special atmosphere at every show. Seeing these concerts become part of people’s celebrations is genuinely the most rewarding part of what we do.”

The 2026 line-up includes Christmas By Candlelight, ABBA Christmas By Candlelight, Bublé Christmas By Candlelight, Motown Christmas By Candlelight, and Rat Pack – A Swingin’ Christmas By Candlelight.

Tickets go on early access from May 22 with details at https://candlelightchristmas.kickoffpages.com/ with general release on May 29.
